Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 September 2026

Family Health is an educational blog about everyday habits for the whole household. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we handle when you use this site, why we handle it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We have written it to be readable rather than exhaustive, because a policy nobody understands protects nobody. If anything here is unclear, please write to us and we will explain it.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to everyone who visits this site and, in particular, to anyone who chooses to contact us through the form on the Contact page or the message block on the homepage. It does not cover any other website you might reach by following a link from here. Once you leave this site, the privacy practices of wherever you land are theirs, not ours, and you should read their own policies.

What information we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to answer you. There are two broad categories.

Information you give us directly

When you send a message through our form, we collect the fields you fill in: your name, your email address, an optional topic, and the content of your message. You decide what goes into that message, so please do not include sensitive personal details you would rather not share. We do not ask for, and do not want, information about anyone's health, finances or identity documents.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the server that hosts this site may keep standard technical logs — things such as the type of browser making a request and the time of the request. These logs are a normal part of running a website securely and are handled by the hosting provider. We do not use them to build profiles of individual readers, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site.

Why we use your information

We use the details from your message for one purpose: to read what you sent and, where a reply is needed, to respond to you. If you suggest a topic or share a tip, we may use the idea to shape future articles, but we would not publish your name or message without asking you first. We do not sell your information, and we do not add you to a mailing list you did not ask to join.

The lawful basis for handling your data

Where data protection law asks us to name a basis, we rely on your consent and on our legitimate interest in responding to messages sent to us. You gave us your details in order to get in touch; using them to reply is the reason you sent them. You can withdraw your consent at any time by asking us to delete your message.

How long we keep it

We hold the messages we receive only for as long as they are useful — long enough to reply and to keep a short record of any conversation. We review stored messages periodically and delete those we no longer need. If you would like your message removed sooner, tell us and we will delete it.

Who can see your information

Messages sent through the form are read by the small team behind Family Health. We do not share the contents with third parties for their own use. The only outside parties involved are the services that make the site work — for example, the company that hosts the site and stores the files. Those providers process data on our behalf and only to keep the site running.

Cookies and tracking

This site is deliberately light on tracking. For details of any cookies that may be set and how to control them in your browser, please see our Cookie Policy, which sits alongside this one.

Children's privacy

Family Health writes about family life, but the site itself is aimed at the adults who run a household. It is not designed for children to use directly, and we do not knowingly collect information from children through the form. If you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we will remove them.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the personal information we hold. In general terms, these include the following.

  • Access: ask what information about you we hold.
  • Correction: ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
  • Deletion: ask us to delete your message and details.
  • Objection: ask us to stop using your information for a given purpose.

To use any of these, write to us at the address below. We will not charge you for a reasonable request and will respond within a sensible time.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable, practical steps to protect the messages you send from loss or unauthorised access. No method of sending information over the internet is perfectly secure, so while we do our best, we cannot promise absolute security. Please avoid sending anything highly confidential through a web form.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the site or the law changes. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy, so it is worth glancing at the date now and then.

How to contact us

If you have a question about this policy or want to exercise any of your rights, please reach us through the Contact page or by email at [email protected]. We are a small blog, so replies come from a person, not a queue.
